Who are the founders of Hedera Hashgraph and what is their background in blockchain technology and distributed ledger technology (DLT)?
The founders of Hedera Hashgraph are Leemon Baird and Mance Harmon.
Leemon Baird is the Chief Scientist and Co-founder of Hedera Hashgraph. He is a computer scientist, mathematician, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in the fields of cryptography, distributed systems, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. He has a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and has been working on distributed ledger technology since 2012.
He is also the inventor of the Swirlds consensus algorithm which forms the basis for Hedera Hashgraph's consensus mechanism. Mance Harmon is the CEO and Co-founder of Hedera Hashgraph. He has over 25 years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems, cybersecurity, blockchain technology, and enterprise software development.
Prior to founding Hedera Hashgraph he was the CTO at Skycoin where he was responsible for developing Skycoin’s blockchain platform. He also held various positions at Microsoft including Principal Architect for Azure Blockchain Services and Senior Director for Microsoft’s Blockchain Business Development team.
